From 8 to 15 June, our team took part as a partner organization in the Erasmus+ youth exchange “Edge of Tomorrow,” held in San Nicolò, a coastal village in the Capo Vaticano area of Calabria, Italy, and organized by Roccella+. The exchange brought together young people and group leaders from Italy, Serbia, Poland, Türkiye and North Macedonia, with priority given to young people not in education, employment or training, and to those taking part in an Erasmus+ project for the first time.
Through non-formal education activities, workshops, group discussions and intercultural exchange, participants explored key challenges and opportunities shaping the future. Together they reflected on topics such as environmental sustainability, digital transformation, international conflicts, active citizenship, and the role young people can play in building a more inclusive and resilient society.
Imagining the future together
The exchange gave participants a common space to imagine future society and think about their own role within it. Alongside the thematic workshops, the programme was designed to strengthen participants’ key competences, foster intercultural dialogue, and build a stronger connection to European values and programmes. Evenings brought their own kind of learning too, with intercultural nights where participants shared food, traditions and stories from their countries with the group.
Set by the sea, with the group staying together throughout the week, the exchange created the conditions for open exchange of ideas and for genuine, lasting friendships to form between participants from five different countries.
Why this matters to us
Bringing young people from different backgrounds together to think about shared challenges, from the environment to digital change, helps build the kind of active citizenship we want to support through our work. We continue to believe in the value of non-formal education and international youth exchange as tools for personal growth and social change.
We would like to thank Roccella+ for organizing this youth exchange and for the invitation to take part, together with our partner organizations SOWA (Poland), Bilge Youth (Türkiye) and Creators of the Future (North Macedonia), who made this exchange of experience and culture possible.
